Since 2014, the statistics of the 'read and publish deals' have been updated nationally on openaccess.nl. More than 20,000 articles have now been published
In the publication year 2018, 7,664 open access articles were published by 12 publishers. That is an increase of no less than 21% compared to 2017. The explanation can be found in the (strongly) improved workflows, so that more articles were published at a number of publishers. For example, Wiley (152%), Cambridge (126%) and Elsevier (23%) experienced a substantial volume increase.
The increase is remarkable because, due to the loss of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), there were fewer agreements with publishers. With Elsevier, the number of titles did increase.
